10. Hamburg, Germany -- The German city of Hamburg has held onto its 10th place spot on the Economist Intelligence Unit's most livable cities list for 2017.
9. Helsinki, Finland -- Very little has changed at the top end of the list in the past 12 months, with Finland's capital holding onto the No. 9 spot in 2017.
8. Auckland, New Zealand -- Frequently listed as one of the world's best cities, New Zealand's Auckland yet again ranks No. 8 on the Economist Intelligence Unit's annual livable cities list.
7. Perth, Australia -- The trend continues with Perth, which kept its No. 7 spot on this year's livable cities list. Great beaches are among the attractions of this city on the west coast of Australia.
5. Adelaide, Australia -- The Economist Intelligence Unit assesses stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure in 140 cities to compile its annual list. Continuing Australia's domination, No. 5 Adelaide has parks, beaches and vineyards.
5. Calgary, Canada -- There's so much more to this Alberta city than the Calgary Stampede. The gateway to Rocky Mountain resort towns such as Banff and Lake Louise, Calgary has a thriving culinary and cultural scene.
4. Toronto, Canada -- Coming in at No. 4 -- just as it did last year -- Toronto is home to the 553-meter high CN Tower.
3. Vancouver, Canada -- Once again, Vancouver has been ranked Canada's top city on the Economist Intelligence Unit's livable cities list. Host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, it offers easy access to some of Canada's most breathtaking scenery.
2. Vienna, Austria -- The musical city with glamorous palaces and architecture came in second again this year.
1. Melbourne, Australia -- With great coffee, great food, a lively music and arts scene and lots of open space, it's no surprise Melbourne is rated the most livable city for the seventh year in a row. The Aussie city received a score of 97.5 out of 100 on the annual list.
