Vanessa Hudgens's startling makeover

See this side-by-side image of Vanessa Hudgens and a disillusioned youth? Believe it or not, they are one and the same! It's the "High School Musical" hottie totally transformed, sporting shorter hair and tomboy layers to play a troubled teen in the upcoming film "Gimme Shelter."

"I'm so excited and proud of the work I've been doing and let me tell you, you all are going to be SHOCKED with how I look in this movie," Hudgens posted on her Facebook page earlier this week. "It's crazy sauce."

"Gimme Shelter," which filmed in Newark, N.J., on Thursday, wraps up production next week. The drama's premise is heavier and more realistic than Hudgens' usual fare: the 22-year-old portrays a pregnant teen who becomes homeless when her white-collar, Wall Street dad (Brendan Fraser) disagrees with her decision to have the baby.

(Sounds like the anti-"Juno.")
