Samuel L. Jackson joins Twitter_ On the same day that the first trailer for The Avengers premiered, one of the stars of the superhero film decided to make a big announcement of his own.
Samuel L. Jackson is joining Twitter.The actor, who plays Nick Fury in the upcoming Marvel film, announced his foray into social networking while he was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
“I’m officially launching my Twitter site,” Jackson said on the show.
Jackson took out his iPad, and told Fallon that he’s planning to see how long it takes him to get to 1 million followers.
He sent out his first Tweet while on the show. “Can-a [expletive] say [expletive] on here?” was the first comment that Jackson shared with the Twitterverse. So far, his tweets have all been brief and mostly involve swear words.
“You’re going to be addicted to it now,” said Jimmy Fallon.
“Excellent. So I get to tell people, I’m over at the Shake Shack now getting a burger,” Jackson said.
By Wednesday morning, he already had more than 80,000 followers, even though he had sent out less than 10 tweets.
“I'm feelin' da love! U got a [expletive] all choked up!” he wrote.
Jackson will star as Nick Fury, the spy and leader of the fictional espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D., in the highly anticipated Marvel ensemble picture, The Avengers, which will come out in 2012. The film will also feature Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Robert Downey, Jr.
