Best and worst of Royal Wedding fashion

Best and worst of Royal Wedding fashion

The royal wedding has arrived, and it sure was fancy! The blushing bride, Kate Middleton, stunned in an Alexander McQueen gown, while Prince William looked dapper and utterly swoon-worthy in uniform. Check out the new royal couple, and all the lucky guests wearing proper morning dress attire and outrageous fascinator hats.
 Carole Middleton – A-

The mother of the bride wore Catherine Walker, perhaps in tribute to Princess Diana as she was one of her favorite designers. She looked very classy in an icy blue wool coat over a pale silk dress and matching hat by Jane Corbett.
 Lady Helen Taylor - C

She’s the Queen’s cousin, the great granddaughter of King George V, and was once the muse to Giorgio Armani. Today Taylor wore Erdem Moralioglu . We weren’t feeling the embroidered flowers on her jacket, or the white gloves.
 Joss Stone – B+

The singer looked genuiniely psyched to attend the big event and traded in her typically bohemian attire for an on-trend honeysuckle pink shift dress and matching jacket and pumps. It was a festive look, and even with the hat it wasn’t too stuffy
 The bridesmaids - A

As is British tradition, the little ladies were dressed similarly to the bride, and their dresses were made by British designer Nicki Macfarlane using the same fabric as Kate’s McQueen gown. Lady Louise Windsor, Margarita Armstrong-Jones, Grace van Cutsem, and Eliza Lopes wore box-pleated dresses hand-finished with English Cluny lace and gold silk sashes. How cute are their little puff sleeves?! The accessories were equally adorable. Each girl wore satin Mary Janes with Swarovski crystal buckles from England's Rainbow Club, and a lily-of-the-valley hair wreath inspired by the flowers Carole Middleton used in her own wedding.
 Princess Anne – B

The Princess Royal wore a lilac dress and hat with a coordinating floral coat and nude heels. It was a bold choice, but we think she pulled it off!

 James Middleton - B

The bride’s brother also wore a yellow vest… and a serious tan. He looks like a young Jude Law. So handsome!
 Tara Palmer-Tomkinson – A

The English socialite wore a striking head-to-toe blue outfit and matching Philip Treacy fascinator. This hat was our favorite of the day!
 Queen Elizabeth – B

The queen is known for her love of color, and today she wore a joyful, bright yellow Angela Kelly ensemble. The designer is a close confidant of the queen, and currently serves as curator in jewelry, insignias, and wardrobe. Elizabeth accessorized with the Queen Mary’s lover’s knot brooch.
Prince William and Kate Middleton, aka the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - A

The bride was absolutely breathtaking this morning in her Alexander McQueen gown. Creative director Sarah Burton used hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace throughout the bodice and skirt, while the ivory and white satin gazar skirt was designed to emulate a flower. How lovely! We loved Kate’s sweetheart bodice and the lace sleeves, and felt the dress looked both retro and modern at the same time. It reminded us of Grace Kelly’s wedding gown, only more wearable.

William wore a Colonel of the Irish Guards uniform, which features a scarlet red jacket, blue sash from the Order of the Garter, and a forage cap. The Army's honorary Irish Guards position, which he earned in February, is his highest military title. William stood tall and proud in the bright color, but his best accessory was his glowing smile when he finally saw Kate at the altar.
Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie – D

The cousins to Prince William and Prince Harry and daughters of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York (who wasn’t invited to the wedding), definitely made a statement with their flashy ensembles and Philip Treacy hats. Eugenie’s dress was completely unflattering, while Beatrice’s hat looked like an octopus on her head. Not good.
 Sir Elton John – B+

If anyone can pull off a flashy look it’s musical phenom (and close friend of the late Princess Diana), Elton John, and he did not disappoint in a yellow vest and contrasting purple tie. His husband David Furnish stuck to a neutral grey palette to keep the focus on the singer.
 Prince Charles - B

The prince has held the rank of Admiral of the Royal Navy since 2006 and so today he wore the ceremonial uniform of the Royal Navy Number One Dress decorated with lots of flair. Forget a tuxedo, this uniform is official.
David Beckham A- and Victoria Beckham B-

Unlike some of the more colorful guests, a seven months pregnant Victoria Beckham donned a more somber, dark navy dress from her own fall collection, with a matching Philp Treacy pillbox hat and Christian Louboutins. Her look was rather boring and predictable, but we understand it can be tricky to dress a baby bump. David Beckham looked dashing as ever in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit with charcoal morning coat, slicked back hair, and a top hat.
 Guy Ritchie – B+

The director and ex-husband of Madonna certainly knows how to dress. His complimenting shades of grey and pinstripe pants are perfectly coordinated.

 Prince Harry – A

The best man and brother of the groom wore the uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry. The gold waist belt and rope embellishments look awesome against the dark coat, but Harry’s messy hair and perpetual grin really sold us on this look. Love it.
 Pippa Middleton - A

The maid of honor and wore Alexander McQueen, just like her sister, and her gown was stunning enough to be a wedding dress itself! This gown is very simple but elegant with a low flutter neckline and tiny buttons all down the back.
 Chelsy Davy B-

Prince Harry’s on-and-off girlfriend wore an aqua green, bias reverse satin dress and matching faille silk jacket by Italian designer Alberta Ferretti. The color complimented her hair, eyes, and skin tone beautifully, but something about her appearance looks disheveled. Knowing her reputation, she may have been up late partying last night.

 Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall B-

Camilla wore Anna Valentine to the royal wedding—the same designer she wore to her own nuptials back in 2005. Her two-tone champagne and pale blue coat has a pleated skirt, with a matching champagne dress underneath. The look is complimented with a Philip Treacy hat and Jimmy Choo heels.
Queen Sofia of Spain, Prince Felipe of Asturias and Princess Letizia of Asturias – B

Many members of European royalty were in attendance. Here the military dressed Prince Felipe is flanked by his mother, Queen Sofia, in an all purple getup and his wife, Princess Letizia, in shades of pink. We’re kind of obsessed with the retro, rose colored embellished column dress.
